Preventative Medicine

Information and education:

Empowering patients by providing information allows them to make informed decisions about their health care.

We deliver this through this very website, patient handouts, information boards, the ever changing education board and answering the many queries patients will bring to the clinic. We are proactive in either finding the answers or directing patients to where the answers lie.

Reminder Systems

We are proactive in helping patients with chronic disease manage their health, thereby improving their quality of life. Reminder letters inform the patient when their care plans and health assessments are due. This service reduces the anxiety trying to schedule and remember the many different services now available to them. The reminder system also goes towards being proactive in preventative health by recalling them regularly for ECG, spirometry and pathology eg. HBA1C. File reminder flags prompt receptionist and clinical staff alike to ensure patients are booking appointments and following up on suggested initiatives.

Immunisations

Adult immunisations and boosters are available including Hepatitis A and B, pneumococcus and influenza vaccines.

An annual influenza vaccination is strongly recommended for all people over 65 years of age or anyone with a chronic illness such as heart or lung disease including asthma or bronchitis or diabetes. Influenza vaccine is supplied free by the Government for patients 65 years and older.
